Jubilee Cottage Visit ~ Grand Haven, MI
Grand Haven is a bustling beach town on the southwest shores of Lake Michigan. During the summer months the town welcomes thousands of visitors to its community for some fun in the sun. Who can resist summer weather, beach days and Lake Michigan sunsets!? All of these things make us want to plan a summer visit to Grand Haven!

Summer isn’t the only time worth planning to visit Grand Haven though! If you are looking to enjoy a visit during the off-season months, we highly recommend checking out Jubilee Cottage. It is the perfect place to rest, relax and recharge your mind. Plus, nothing beats the autumn trees in Michigan!

Welcome!
Jubilee Cottage is located on the pristine property of the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds, a family ministry center, situated along the shores of Lake Michigan. During the summer months, they host kids camps, and the staff stays in the cottages throughout the property. The off-season allows for outside visitors to rent these cottages.
Jubilee Cottage
The living and kitchen area are open-concept, which means those of us in charge of meal making are never left out of what’s happening.

The cottage has three bedrooms, two upstairs and one downstairs, that feature a total of ten twin size beds!
One of the upstairs bedrooms. (Oops… with all the cousin excitement, I didn’t realize beds weren’t made when taking picture.)
Jubilee Cottage was a fantastic location to get our family together in one space. Not only was there plenty of room inside the cottage, the outside yard area is very spacious and right next to a covered gathering space and community fire pit.

We really enjoyed sitting around the firepit after a day well spent on the beach. It was great that it was close to our cottage too, which meant the bathroom was always close-by (with five kids between us, bathrooms are very important).

It rained once while we were visiting, and we were able to enjoy the passing shower underneath the covered gathering place with lots of board games, reading and chatting.
Covered gathering space.
Be sure to bring any outdoor games or toys with you, as they are not provided at the cottage. Our kids really enjoyed using a stomp rocket in the side yard!
Time to Hit the Beach
Probably my favorite part about the Jubliee Cottage is its location. Not only is it secluded and surrounded by beautiful towering trees, it is also just a short walk away to the shores of Lake Michigan.
View of Lake Michigan, just beyond lawn area.
A wooden staircase winds through the sand dunes and leads you to a private beach area which stretches the length of the property. There are plenty of benches along the way to enjoy a rest-stop and soak in the views.
Staircase down to the beach.
There are also seating areas scattered overlooking the shoreline, which are perfect for enjoying the sunrise or sunset.
Stop and enjoy the view!
Take it from us… sunsets over Lake Michigan are stunning! We highly recommend enjoying one (or a few) down at the beach and overlook area. You’ll be glad you did!
Gorgeous Lake Michigan sunset from the overlook area.
Overall, Jubilee Cottage left us feeling refreshed, relaxed and reconnected to each other. It is a great place to spend time with family and friends and make Michigan memories together!

The Jubilee Cottage looks like it is in the perfect place for a relaxing family vacation. Combine the beach, sunset views form the overlook and really cute cottage (love the open concept), and it has a littel bit for everyone.
Charlene
It was all of those things indeed! This was our first stay there and we would gladly do so again.

This area looks so beautiful! You really get the best of both worlds beach and woods!
Charlene
It’s pretty neat having the woods and beach so close to each other. Hooray for Michigan!

What a charming cottage. I’ve always wanted to swim at Lake Michigan after a friend from college went to Pensacola beach with me and he was shocked that the water was salty. He had only been to lake beaches beforehand. This cottage is a perfect way to experience lake life with those gorgeous sunsets!

I hope you get to swim in it sometime! I was basically like your friend during my first visit to an ocean, I’d been a Lake Michigan gal my whole life and didn’t like the taste especially. The salt free water is definitely a plus… and no sharks, lol! Although, I do love what the ocean water does to my skin and hair! ~ Aloha

This cottage is charming! I love the firepit area. So warm and inviting.
Charlene
We did too! The chairs were kept clean also, so no lurking spider webs sticking to your legs.

I think it looks like a charming place to stay. I’d like being at the lake for photography. Is it’s view for the sunset or sunrise?
Charlene
The location of the cottage is perfect. You could certainly enjoy the sunrise here also! Sunsets work well from this spot, as the sun sets over Lake Michigan in the western sky. The photography possibilities are endless!

I would love to wake up to that view!
Charlene
So energizing!

What an adorable cottage! We love places like this. I could see us making s’mores around that fire pit!
Charlene
I do too… I really loved the purple front door. S’mores around that firepit sound amazing right now!

What a cute place. We prefer to stay at places like this when on vacation. I love that you can walk on the beach.
