Does Maui Have a Cat Cafe? Yes! Check Out CAT CAFE MAUI Now!
Cat Cafe Maui opened its doors in August of 2022, inside the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center in Kahului. Since their grand opening they’ve found “fur-ever” homes for over 100 Maui felines. In partnership with the Maui Humane Society, and Maui Cat Rescue (the non-profit portion of Cat Cafe Maui) homeless cats are brought to the cafe in the hopes of being adopted. The cats are all up to date on all vaccinations and are also spade/neutered.

Welcome to Cat Cafe Maui
My daughter and I recently visited Cat Cafe Maui, while on vacation. It was our first ever visit to a cat cafe and the experience set the bar pretty high. The owner and volunteers impressed this “crazy cat lady” with their warmth, knowledge and commitment to the darling kitties.
Locals, and visitors to the island, are invited to reserve a spot and come mingle with cats hoping to be adopted. If you fall in love with a cat (or two!) but don’t live in Hawaii, don’t worry… the cafe can help you through the process of adopting and traveling to the U.S. mainland with your new kitty.
Each cat’s “purr-sonality” was so unique… it was hard not to fall in love with them all! The people that work at Cat Cafe Maui were pretty “purr-fect” too! We’re so excited to share with you why we think you should book a visit to Cat Cafe Maui, right meow!
3 Reasons You Need to Visit Cat Cafe Maui, right meow!
Support a Local Maui Cause
As visitors to Maui, one of the things our family always tries to do while there, is support local businesses and organizations. It was refreshing to be in the company of so many people who simply love cats and also helping them.
Book Your Visit
“Purr-chasing” tickets to Cat Cafe Maui allowed us to enjoy spending time with some furry friends and to support a cause that’s important to our family and the local community.
Fees from the tickets to Cat Cafe Maui are used to help cover operating costs, and healthcare and supplies for the cats. Visitors can book everything from a 50-minute visit to Cat Yoga or Paint n’ Purr.
Volunteer
If you live on Maui, or are staying for a length of time, there are opportunities to volunteer at the cafe to help with daily care of the cats. Yes, this may include scooping litter boxes. To find out more check out their website.
Not Able to Visit In-Person, but Still Want to Help?
One of the great things about Cat Cafe Maui is that you don’t have to visit in “purr-son” to support their efforts, thanks to online resources such as:
- Maui Cat Rescue’s Amazon Wish List
- Amazon Smile (Maui Cat Rescue)
- PayPal donation
Volunteer on Vacation at Cat Cafe Maui
If you love animals, a visit to the Cat Cafe Maui is a great way to get involved to help cats in need. It’s a fun, simple and meaningful experience while on vacation. Plus, it’s family-friendly!
By “purr-chasing” tickets (which I view as a donation), you are volunteering to spend part of your vacation with homeless cats on Maui. The time visitors spend mingling with the adoptable cats is so important to their success.
How does mingling with cats help them? It socializes them and gives the volunteers a chance to get to know their personalities. Knowing a cat’s personality and preferences can help the volunteers to better match them with people wanting to adopt.
Another way to give back is by purchasing items off Maui Cat Rescue’s Amazon Wish List and having them sent directly to the organization. (Remember… Maui Cat Rescue is the non-profit portion of Cat Cafe Maui!)
Miss Your Cat Back Home? Snuggle with Cats at Cat Cafe Maui
Let’s face it… when you’re crazy about your cat(s) and have to leave them at home when traveling, it can be hard having so much distance between you. Our family has two cats, a brother and a sister, and how they’re doing is always on our minds when we are travelling. Sure, we get updates (and pictures!) from our loved ones who check on them, but not being able to interact with them can be difficult, especially for kids.
Cat Cafe Maui was a great way to get our “cat fix” and helped calm our minds by being able to pet cats, play with them and hear them purr. What’s not to love?!
Gift Shop (Cat Cafe Kahului)
Before you finish up your time at the cafe, be sure to check out their gift shop area. You’ll find a selection of Cat Cafe swag and feline themed goodies.
The gift shop is separated from the area with the cats and is open to visitors, including those who haven’t purchased tickets.

I’d love to visit the Maui Cat Lounge! We have a cat lounge in Joplin. They’ve adopted out so many cats and kittens.

It’s such a neat concept and I feel like I’m hearing about them popping up all over lately. So glad the one in Joplin is doing so well too!
