The Original Mackinac Island Butterfly House & Insect World

Wings of Mackinac Butterfly Conservatory

The playground behind the art museum is conveniently located near downtown, and right next to Marquette Park. Great Turtle Park, located in Harrisonburg in the interior of the island, provides a playground with various structures suitable for different ages, surrounded by green spaces perfect for a family picnic and letting toddlers run around.

The school playground is another excellent option, equipped with modern play equipment. However, be mindful of the school hours during the academic year to ensure it’s available for public use.

Along the way, you’ll encounter signage all about the native plants and flowers, providing a beautiful and educational experience for both you and your toddler. The trail is well-marked, paved, and maintained, making it easy to navigate even with a stroller.

Visit a Nature Center

Exploring the nature centers on Mackinac Island is a fantastic way to introduce your toddler to the wonders of the natural world. The island boasts two excellent nature centers: British Landing Nature Center and the new Arch Rock and Milliken Nature Center.
